Sunday School Board
The Sunday School Board shall consist of three elected members, one to be elected each year for a term of three years. The newly elected members shall meet with the board in June and July to establish a budget and to organize for the fiscal year. They shall elect a chairman to represent them on the Church Council, and a secretary to keep minutes and records. They shall select and request approval of appointed members as needed to fulfill their duties.
The duties of the Sunday School Board shall be:
- Making plans complementary to the congregational plan established by the Church Council, establishing goals towarad achieving the plan, and preparing detailed budget requirements;
- Appointing a Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School staff for the efficient administration of the Sunday School and Bible Class Program;
- Planning and supervising the Christian Education programs for Sunday School and Bible Classes, providing the best materials available for instruction of the Sunday School and Bible classes, and maintaining an adequate teaching staff;
- Fostering and encouraging a program of in-service training and recognition for the purpose of maintaining a high level of competence among the teachers/staff of the Sunday School and Bible classes;
- Establishing and maintaining a record of enrollment and attendance of the Sunday School and Bible Classes;
- Evaluating and promoting Christian outreach through attendance in Sunday School and Bible Classes;
- Creating a quarterly program of Sunday School and Bible Class visitation by the Sunday School Board;
- Bringing to the attention of the Voters' Assembly the needs of facilities and equipment;
- Attending and encouraging attendance of Bible institutes, workshops, rallies, conventions, etc., sponsored by Circuit, District, or Synod;
- Annually appointing a superintendent of the Vacation Bible School who shall plan, and with the assistance of the Board, recruiting and training a staff of officers and teachers to conduct the program; and
- Being responsible for any other short term educational agency created by the congregation.
